You can apply to bring your parents to Canada as visitors or sponsor them for Permanent residence. The waiting times for Parental Sponsorship are long, so many people can bring their parents to Canada as guests while they wait for the Permanent Residence to be processed. First, parents and grandparents are required to have a child or grandchild who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. If you are a temporary resident of Canada, your parents will need to apply under the regular visitor visa category.
Note:- the super visa is for parents and grandparents only.

According to the latest 2021-2023 immigration program, immigrants, refugees, and Canadian nationals (IRCC) expect to receive an estimated 23,500 immigrants under the PGP by 2022.

Ahead of the coronavirus epidemic, the IRCC published information on the adoption of a new PGP in January. The IRCC, on the other hand, has published updates and PGP lotteries on stage in the fall of 2020 and 2021 during the epidemic.

It is not yet clear when the IRCC will announce the start of PGP 2022. We are not sure about the format it will take. The IRCC relies on the lottery system in recent years, selecting sponsors anywhere on the profit forms found on the IRCC website.

Prior to the pandemic, the IRCC was looking at other ways to manage the PGP, considering the fact that the need to sponsor parents and grandparents exceeds the number of vacancies that exist. As a result, the IRCC has received more than 200,000 interested applicants for 2020 and 2021. The agency is currently processing 40,000 applications for PGP adoption by 2020 and 2021. However, given the fact that Immigration Canada is processing 40,000 applications and that the Government of Canada plans to approve an estimated 23,500 parents and grandparents under this program by 2022, there is a possibility that this program may be delayed till 2023. The current processing time after the submission of the application lies between 20-24 months.

The Sponsorship of Parents and Grandparents Program is expected to begin inviting potential sponsors  to submit the Sponsorship Form in the second half of 2022. If the program format remains the same, sponsors will be selected by lottery. Last year, the nomination of numbers took place in September, and invitations were sent out within two weeks between September 20 and October 4.

If you receive an invitation to apply, you will have only 60 days to submit your application for the Parental and Grandparent Sponsorship to the Case Processing Centre in Ottawa or through the Permanent Resident Digital Intake Tool. The latter allows for applications to be sent electronically. Make sure you have all your documents in accordance with the Department of Immigration checklist, which includes the following documents:

  1. Sponsor’s Permanent Resident card (both sides) or proof of Canadian Citizenship, Passport or Citizenship Certificate.
  2. Sponsor’s birth-certificate.
  3. Proof of Sponsor’s income
  4. Applicant’s passports
  5. Certified copy and marriage copies of the applicant, divorce (if applicable), name change (if applicable), and birth certificates.
  6. Earlier Police clearance certificates were not required.

The best way is to make sure your grant application is processed as soon as possible to make sure it is done correctly the first time. In addition, the IRCC eligibility criteria for PGP sponsors are as follows:

  1. Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or an Indian registered under Indian Indian Law,
  2. The candidate must be at least 18 years old,
  3. The candidate must meet the minimum PGP income requirement (spouses and common law couples can pool their income if they want and provide proof of income to the IRCC by sending the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) Examination Notices.
  4. Sign a legal agreement that is committed to financial support for sponsored people for the next 20 years and to repay any social assistance received by individuals during this time. The  Minimal Required income (MNI) varies depending on the size of your family and where you live in Canada.

Your income in the tax financial years 2021, 2020, and 2019 will be examined. For Quebec you will be evaluated on the basis of the last 12 months of your income.

Consider the Super Visa as an additional alternative, Another option for reuniting with your parents and grandparents in Canada is to go for a Super Visa. The Super Visa permits your parents and grandparents to visit Canada many times over the course of ten years, and can stay up to 2 years.

INCOME REQUIREMENTS
The Canadian government needs a signed undertaking from potential sponsors. The undertaking determines how much the sponsor will be financially responsible for the family members who sponsor them. The length of work for the undertaking of parents and grandparents is 20 years. To be successful in your sponsorship application, you must prove that you meet the minimum wage requirements for the 2018, 2019 and 2020 tax years.
