The country has just started recovering from the losses that COVID-19 pandemic has done however, a new COVID-19 variant, Omnicron, has emerged from nowhere.

Federal Government this time is all set to take steps in order to prevent its citizens. In the coming days, the administration is expected to take steps to toughen testing requirements for international travellers to Canada, including both vaccinated and unvaccinated. Canada is ramping up its defenses against the new variant of COVID-19 with new tests and quarantine requirements for all the international travellers except the United States.

Canada has temporarily banned commuters from countries namely Botswana, Egypt, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe in order to limit the further spread of coronavirus. Canadians and permanent residents coming back from the 10 countries mentioned above will be tested on arrival and need to quarantine themselves until they get a negative corona report. Apart from that, the unvaccinated travellers will be required to quarantine for their entire quarantine period in a designated quarantine facility.

As World Health Organization has described this new variant as “very high risk” and even in Canada seven cases of Omnicron COVID- 19 variant have been confirmed and several other cases are still under investigation so to prevent further losses the Canadian government has tightened the border measures.
