Requirements effective at 3 AM (EDT) October 30,2021

It is now mandatory to be fully vaccinated in order to depart in the federally regulated air and rail sectors. These requirements will be applicable to all the travellers aged above 12 years who are:

  1. Flying domestically, transborder or internationally from certain airports in Canada.
  2. Travellers travelling on VIA Rail and Rocky Mountaineer trains
  3. Cruise ships passengers on voyages of 24 hours or more.

All the commuters will need to show their vaccination proof. Just for a shorter transition, people have the option of showing a valid COVID-19 Molecular test until 29th November, 2021. Hon’ble Omer Alghabra, Transport Minister, made the announcement today, also stated that there will be certain exemptions for the emergencies and remote communities to access essential services however, details are yet to be provided.

As of November 30, a negative COVID-19 molecular test cannot be used as an alternative to vaccination at all. If the vaccination process has not been started by the travellers or they do not start it soon, they will not be allowed to travel from November 30 and there will also be very limited exemptions.
