As of June 2019, two pilot programs were launched:
- Home childcare Provider Pilot (NOC-4411)- taking care of children under 14 years of age
- Home support Worker pilot (NOC- 4412)- taking care of elderly people
Through both these programs, a candidate is eligible to apply for his Permanent Residency if:
- A candidate meets the eligibility requirements and
- Have a job offer to work in one of these occupations
In these pilot programs, the candidate will get an Open work permit to come to Canada and work temporarily. The work permit: –
- Is occupation restricted so the candidate can only work in that specific occupation only
- No need of LMIA
- To get the work experience one need to be eligible for permanent residency
Your current or the experience you already had related to this could be counted towards your eligibility to get your Permanent Residency.
For both these programs, although the former one is closed for this year as the total number of applicants that were required were 2,750 and there are more applications that have already been submitted. However, for Home Child Care Provider Pilot the candidate has to wait till January 1, 2023.
For the latter one, there are still chances and one can apply for that. For the Home support Worker Pilot, it is still open for new applicants and even the candidate can still apply under the new 2022 cap as in that also the Canadian government will be accepting 2,750 applications.
IF ALREADY APPLIED
If you have already applied and your application is under process, then you don’t need to panic. The Visa officer will send you a notification letter which states that they have already received your application and will review and revert soon. It is just because of COVID-19 pandemic that is why it is taking longer than usual.
