A new immigration program, Hard-to-Fill skills, has been announced on November 25. In this Pilot Program, the employers of Saskatchewan will now be able to recruit international talented personnel for certain in-demand occupational sectors. The sectors that are in need for immediate hiring are health, manufacturing, agriculture, ag-tech, construction, hospitality, and retail. Also, the eligible jobs under this pilot will include entry-level positions that may require on-the-job training as well.
In a media release, Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison said, “The demand for labour in our province is strong, and it’s only going to increase with the significant economic projects recently announced in Saskatchewan.” This program has been developed to support Saskatchewan’s labor market demands in major sectors and is scheduled to launch in December 2021.
The eligibility criteria for the candidates include:
- An employment offer (permanent and full-time) and SINP job approval letter from a registered Saskatchewan employer for an eligible occupation.
- Minimum Canadian official language proficiency level.
- Minimum educational and work experience requirements.
