There is a major shuffle in Prime Minister Trudeau’s government, as he has announced a new cabinet this morning. Now, honorable Sean Fraser is being appointed as Canada’s new Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, replacing honorable Marco Mendicino, who is now the new Public Safety Minister.

A meeting with the stakeholders ‘of immigration and lawyers in October, 2021, clearly stated that now the government’s three main priorities are Family reunification, resettling of Afghan refugees and giving invitations to more than 4,00,000 immigrants. As this is the government’s new goal.

Due to this major shuffle, we can also see some major decisions being taken by the government related to immigration. It can be expected that the Canadian government will be working on all the application backlogs that have grown during this pandemic. Not only this, but the new government will try to reform Express Entry and the Parents and Grandparents Program. We can also see some major changes like they have announced Municipal Nominee Program and the waiver of the citizenship fee. Despite having a lot to be accomplished, the following years will be less challenging than the previous ones and even than the pandemic period as well.
