In 2025, Canada tied for 8th place with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Estonia, granting access to 184 countries without a prior visa.

📉 A Slight Dip, But Still Ahead

While Canada slipped from 7th place in January 2025 to 8th in July, it still holds its edge over the United States, which has now fallen to 10th place and risks dropping out of the top 10 for the first time since the Index’s inception in 2006.

In comparison, Singapore tops the list, offering visa-free access to 193 countries, followed by Japan and South Korea (190 countries). Meanwhile, a seven-country tie—including France, Germany, and Italy—took third place with 189 destinations.

Despite a drop of four positions over the past decade, Canada’s passport continues to be a global leader in travel freedom and international accessibility.

📈 Other Notable Passport Trends

  • India saw the largest jump in six months, moving from 85th to 77th place.

  • Saudi Arabia added four more visa-free destinations since January 2025, marking the largest gain in access.

  • Venezuela had the steepest decline over 10 years, dropping 15 positions, followed by the U.S. (-8) and Canada (-4).
